41st Meeting of the APEC SME Working Group
Delegates to the 41st Meeting of the APEC SME Working Group reconvene on September 24, 2015 for another round of discussions on how to build support for SMEs. The first day’s agenda focused on updates about ongoing developments toward promoting internationalization and capacity-building among SMEs. On the second day, the delegates are expected to report on the outcomes of completed projects, as well as discuss preparations for future meetings.
Small and Medium Enterprise Ministerial Meeting (SMEMM) Press Conference was held on September 27, 2015 at the close of the SME Ministerial Meeting and Related Activities. In her opening statement, DTI Undersecretary Zenaida Maglaya announced the adoption of the APEC Iloilo Initiative: Growing Global MSMEs for Inclusive Development, which brings into focus the challenges faced by MSMEs and ways to overcome them.
A press conference was held on September 23, 2015, at the sidelines of the ongoing 22nd APEC SME Ministerial Meeting and Related Activities. Panel members Prof. Ramon L. Clarete of the University of the Philippines (UP) School of Economics, Dir. Rhodora Leaño of the Bureau of Domestic Trade Promotion (BDTP-DTI), and Dir. Rebecca Rascon, OIC of DTI Region 6 spoke about the value of SMEs in driving the Philippine economy.
At the conclusion of the two-day APEC SME Working Group Meeting, Dir. Jerry Clavesillas (DTI-BSMED) and John Andersen (Chairman, APEC SME Working Group) held a press conference during which they discussed various MSME initiatives.
